Her Life
Ami Mitchell Fields
was born on December 12, 1969, to the late Odell Mitchell and Agnes George Mitchell. She was preceded in death by brother Robin Mitchell and sister Shelby L. Mitchell.
Ami
confessed and accepted God's plan of salvation for her life and was set apart by Him for His purposes. Her spiritual instruction began at Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God In Christ in 1993 under the leadership of the late Shepherd Willie Mae Smith.
In 2021, she served at Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Moderator Tyron White as Assistant Church Clerk, while also actively participating in services at Higher Heights and Deeper Depths Ministry under Pastor Keith McDuffie. Her commitment to service was exemplified through her faithful involvement in various ministries in multiple capacities.
As a youth, she was educated in the Public Schools of Hamilton County. After completing the prescribed course of studies, she graduated from Hamilton County High School class of 1987 and enlisted in the United Stated Armed Forces serving with pride in the United State Army until 1991, during which time she dedicated herself to defending American freedom. She graduated from Saint Leo University with a Bachelor's degree and furthered her education at the University of Phoenix where she obtained her Master's degree in Psychology. She promised God that she would share her testimony on how God blessed her and renew her strength to fight the good fight, no matter what, she trusted God.
After an extended battle with health complications, Ami was called to eternal rest as God dispatched an angel to guide her home. Surrounded by her husband, she peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on the morning of Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Malcom Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, after having fought a good fight.
Adulthood
Throughout her life Ami worked in numerous careers. In her career, she took the greatest pride in her services as the Interim City Manager in Lake City, Florida. In addition, as an entrepreneur, she continued the cleaning services initiated by her late grandmother, Annie Mae George, rebranding and renaming the business as The Purple Foxx and expanding its reach to multiple counties. In her spare time, she loved writing and reading the bible, gardening, decorating, painting and riding her bicycle. During her leisure time she loved cooking and her family. Her nicknames aka was Shug.

She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, including her beloved Husband of 26 years, Kevin Lamar Fields; her Daughter, Kennedy Amaya Fields of Live Oak, Florida; her Mother, Agnes George Mitchell of Bellville, Florida; her Brother, Kirk Mitchell, Sr. (Michelle) of Orlando, Florida; her Aunts, Ruth Mae Jones (Harold) of Miami, Florida, and Betty Williams (Mosel, Sr.) of Twin Lakes, Georgia; "Loving Sisters-in-Law Celeste Bradley (Ronald Rossin) of Lake City, Florida; Cynthia Harris of Daytona Beach, Florida; and Toni Campbell of Madison, Florida, along with Loving Brothers-in-Law Micheal Brown of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Morris Bowers of Live Oak, Florida; her God Brother, Frank L. Smith of Live Oak, Florida; her God Son, Frank L. Smith II of Live Oak, Florida; and Special Friends, Sis. Gail Butler and Bro. Eric Brown. Her Support System, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her family and friends for their unwavering support and love, stating, "Your kindness will always be appreciated. God bless each of you; you know who you are." Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends. Special thanks are extended to the staff at the Malcom Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida.
