Mrs. Betty Jean Brown-Harps was born in Lake City, Florida on September 24, 1946, to the late Jessie Mae Brown and Booker T. Combs. She attended the Public Schools System of Columbia County, Florida and departed this life on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Betty graduated from Richardson High School, were she played basketball and loved interior design. Employed at the Lake City Veterans Administration Hospital for over 30 years where she retired in 1997.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Darrell Aloypuis Harps, parents, grandparents, and several other close relatives and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons , John T. Underwood and David Harps, Jr. (Aronia) all of Lake City, FL, Tyrone Bernard Harps, of Atlanta, GA; seven sisters, Bobby Jean Powell-Perry (Albert) of Lake City, FL, Shirley Ann Powell-Brewer, of Augusta, Joan Ann Powell-Murphy, Faye Ann Powell-Jones, Pauline Powell-Griffin, Pastor Angelina Rochelle Powell-Hannah (Antonio), and Annette Powell-Whitfield all of Lake City, FL; three brothers, Charles Tyrone Powell, Andrew Powell, Jr. (Marie), Lake City, Florida and Vanus Powell (Rema) Madison, Florida,; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends
