Bishop Zane Cray, Sr., age 79, was born February 18, 1940, to the late James Joel Cray, Sr., and Carrie Jackson Cray in Wellborn, Florida. He passed away after an extended illness on January 31, 2020 at Shands Lakeshore Hospital Regional Hospital.
He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. D. White. Bishop Zane Cray, Sr. was the founder of the The Church of Faith and Deliverance Through Christ, Inc. in Lake City, Florida. He pastored and ministered the gospel for over 50 years. He served God faithfully, Bishop Zane Cray, Sr. was a caring and giving person, and a strong man of prayer who enjoyed working with people. There were many ministers started out of his leadership.
He was employed at Anderson Columbia Paving as a Foreman for over 30 plus years. He repaired many bridges, worked in concrete, soil testing, and many different jobs. He worked hard to take care of his family, and enjoyed life.
He was a farmer at heart. He grew vegetables year round, and gave to the community. He loved seeing the smile on other faces as he delivered the vegetables, especially the elderly people.. He even taught his wife, Diane how to be a farmer the past few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Carrie Cray; brothers: Phillip, Jessie, James, Johnny, Ephram, Murrell, Ozell, Sterling, Perry; sisters: Carrie, Bertha and Alease; a wife: Thereasa Ramsey Cray; a son: Keith.
Left to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Linda Diane Cray for over 3 years; daughters, Thereasa McNeil, Brenda Clark (Kevin) both of Lake City, FL; sons, Apostle Zane Cray, Jr. (Elaine), Dwayne Cray (Robin) both of Valdosta, GA, Dale Cray of Lake City, FL.; Brothers, Selvin Cray (Thelma), Carl Cray (Mable) both of Lake City, FL, Amos Cray of Gainesville, FL; sisters, Hester Miller and Sally Campbell both of Harrisburg, PA, Lucille Bitting of Hopkins, SC; sisters-in-law, Alice Cray, Betty Cray both of Lake City, FL; two stepchildren, Joel Thomas (Leigh Ann) of Live Oak, FL, and Jessica Thomas of Tallahassee, FL; favorite niece, Lawanda Cray Collier; favorite grandson, Bobby McNeil, Jr.; a hosts of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and sorrowing friends.
