Mother Christine Jones Baker was born September 6, 1950, in Hamilton County to the late Selester and Cleo Jones Sr. She departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 2022, peacefully in the comfort of her home.
She attended the public schools of JRE Lee in Hamilton County.
Christine was employed with Corner Kitchen for over 30 years. She was also employed with the Elks Lodge Club as a cook.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the New Day Spring Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend George Francis until his passing. She was then under Dr. Lantz G. Mills until Pastor Al Nelson took over leadership. There she served as a Mother, member of Choir #1, Usher, Nursing Guild and Shepherd's Care Ministry.
Christine left to cherish her beautiful memories her husband , David Baker of Lake City, Florida; two daughters : Angela Barber (Milton) and Rosa Kelsey (Avery), both of Lake City, Florida; one son , Roger Jones of Norfolk, Virginia (preceded her in death) ; three step daughters : Lavonia Smith Baker, Davidra Baker, and Maria Baker; four sisters : Annise, Beatrice, Gloria, and Earnestine (all who preceded her in death) ; seven brothers : Louis Jones of Valdosta, Georgia, Tyrone Jones of Bellville, Florida, June Lee Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida, Alan Tumblin Sr. and Raymond Tumblin Sr. of Lake City, Florida, Cleo Jones Jr. and Wallace Jones Sr. of Bellville, Florida (both preceded her in death) ; one sister-in-law , December Baker; grandchildren : Milton Barber Jr. (preceded her in death), Avery Kelsey Jr. of Winter Haven, Florida, Cherrist Barber, Shantel Kesley, both of Lake City, Florida, Racheal Jones of California, Frances Kelsey, Marybelle Kelsey, Kiran Broomfield, Gavin Broomfield, DeAndre Strawder and Tayana Wilson, all of Lake City, Florida, and Jazin Pate of Rutherforton, North Carolina; great grandchildren : Tashun, Akeyla, Yazmin, Zakyia, all of Lake City, Florida, and Nasir of Plant City, Florida; godmother , Lily Wilds; godsister , Dee Merrits; goddaughters : Tiffany Dandy and Clidette Douglass; godsons : Michael, Shawn and Justin Blakely; special friends : Vera Walker, Amelia Harris, Lavern Hawkins, Jackie Collins, and Pastor Minnie Gomes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative sand sorrowing friends.
