The life of Deacon Curtis Powell began on March 12, 1935. He was the son of the late Neila Scott and raised by the late Maxie and Cornelia Scott. He attended public school in Suwanee County, Florida. Curtis accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
Curtis moved to Bartow, Florida, where he diligently worked as a professional truck driver. Later he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he worked for Maschmeyer Concrete Company of Florida and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service. His work allowed him to travel to many places such as New York, West Palm Beach, and Hartford, Connecticut. He retired in 1999 and returned home to live the remainder of his life in Live Oak, Florida. He served on the Deacon Board, the male choir, and was a faithful member of the church until his health failed.
