Deacon Gregory "Whomp Whomp" Washington was born to the late Amos Washington and Lois Mildred Stewart in Gainesville, FL on October 16, 1959. He was affectionately known to some as "Nap" and "Barton." Deacon Washington was the fourth of six children, preceded in death by his eldest brother, Amos Washington. Residing in Jacksonville, FL he was educated in the Duval County Public School System and graduated from Jean Ribault Senior High School.

Greg later met and married Lisa Williams on May 9, 2009.  He was an active member of West Providence at Jacksonville Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon. He was employed at A1 Coastal Paving.

Greg leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Lisa Washington; his children: Erica, Jessica, Cetoria, Caitlen, Rebecca and Gregory Washington, Jr., Chris, Donnie, Calvin, and Jalisa Williams, Leon Eady, and Caleb Smothers, his siblings: Lynn Rivers, Cheryl (Bervin) Williams, Keith (Jenetta) Lowery, Sandra Stewart, Alvin Washington, Kathy Washington, Frederick Washington, and Tracie Hougabook, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and friends.
