Deacon Donald Williams was so special that he was given his wings of flight December 25, 2019 21:00 PM on our Lord and Savior Birthday @ Shands Hospital in Live Oak Florida surrounded by family. Donald Williams soared on his final journey to join the company of saints who preceded him and to exist permanently in the presence of the Lord.
A Handsome baby boy that bought so much Joy to the world was born June 23, 1953 in Jasper, Florida to the late Alfonzo and Louise Williams. He was raised tenderly with love by the Late Marie and Simon Wilson of Jasper, Florida whom they name Donald Williams and he answered to Don. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sons Jaworski L. Williams, Sr. and Travis L. Williams his siblings Gilda Smith, Tyrone Cobbs, Marnita Jackson.
Donald Williams attended public schools of Hamilton County, (Historic) J.R.E. Lee High School and graduated of the class of 1970 at Hamilton County High School in Jasper, Florida. Joined the United States Army (Vietnam) where he received an Honorable Discharge.
Donald Williams was employed with the Hamilton County Sheriff Department as Jail Administrator under the leadership of Hamilton County Sheriff J. Harrell Reid whom he loved and admired. Once he reached retirement age he had a fire desire to be about his Fathers business so he retired and got his hammer and nails out and was back in the carpenter business full time. The church family and the community depended on Don to fix whatever was broken and he always did with a sermon. Deacon Donald Williams took his journey with the Lord very seriously and he was faithful till the end. He once said I know that I'm not perfect but that won't stop me from flat out trying. Life was a challenge every day to Don always giving.
By following his precepts and examples, his life will forever be Cherished by his Loving and Devoted wife of 35 years Willie Mae Williams. Cobbs, Pastor Helen Kiser Jasper, Florida, Brother-in-laws John Lilly of Tallahassee, Florida, Roosevelt Nixon of Donaldsonville, Georgia, Rev. Desi Nixon (Valerie) Nixon, O'Neal Nixon Jasper, Florida. Aunts Hattie M. Sealey, Aquilla Shuler Jasper, Florida, Annie Mae Jones Crestview, Florida, Lillie Wyatt Houston, Texas, God-Son Robert (Bobby) Henderson, Devoted cousin Wanda Gail Ashley Jasper, Florida. Eleven Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
At an early age, Deacon Donald Williams gave his life to the Lord and became a member of Greater Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Moderator Dr. J.T. (Billy) Simon, where he served faithfully and was later ordained as a Deacon. Deacon Donald Williams served in many capacities of the church as well as the community, helping wherever needed. His passion was serving people and he was always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone. Deacon Williams believed in the three "T's" (Tithe, Time, Talent) of giving. We are to give God our best. He led by example. He gave his time and energy to his church family. He was a friend to many and his presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will forever live on. At times when he get in his truck he would say; Hey Love see you tomorrow. Deacon Donald Williams had a quintessential smile and his presence seemed to add light to any room. He valued his friends and his partners held them very closely, especially Deacon L.M. Henderson, Lonnie Morgan, Rev. A Jerome Lovett, and Robert Thomas. He also cherished the moments with them they affectionately call him, "Don." Most importantly; he was a great husband, father and friend. He was well-known throughout the community.
He worked as a carpenter, he was not just a builder of buildings and homes, he was also a builder of people. He was not a selfish person. His service was to God and His people. He was truly a blessing to everyone that knew him. He never let his family down no matter the situation. He gifted his love ones with the spirit of strength, wisdom and patience. He gave his all and he gave it freely and in good cheer. Our family was blessed to have him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and courage and he inspired many with the question: "Is that the best you can do?" Deacon Williams motto was "I'm Going To Give God My Best" and he did just that...The time is always right to do what is right. Deacon Williams believed in and constantly said it's important to do the right thing. He tried to love and served humanity. Deacon Williams took his journey with the Lord serious and he was faithful till the end. To know him was to love him and his presence added light to every room.
Deacon Williams was a faithful member who loved raising hymns, praying, and attending Sunday School. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Deacon Board, Counselor. He took pride in the chairmanship and loved his Deacon Brothers.
Deacon Donald Williams The Family Patriarch has taken his eternal rest and he leaves a legacy of treasured teaching and fond memories to his loving family and friends.
On December 25, 2019, God called Deacon Donald Williams by name and he answered, "Lord I Am Ready." Deacon Donald Williams is now resting in the arms of the Lord but has left footprints in the hearts of those who loved him. Good and Faithful Servant; "WELL DONE" Thou has been faithful over a few things; now I will make you ruler over many! Enter into the Joy of the Lord.
