Dorothy Jean Jackson was born on January 28, 1939 to the delight of her parents, Lewis and Estella Parker Jackson.  She was the 5 th born of 7 children who had the best time growing up together.  She accepted Christ at a very young age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  She sang in the choir and participated in youth ministries.  Later in life she served on the finance committee and was a delightful church greeter, welcoming those in worship each Sunday morning.  She loved the Lord and she was totally committed to her church and worship service.  Before her health failed, Sis. Yulee could be found at Mt. Olive supporting physically, financially and spiritually.  When she spoke, one could feel a mother's heart .

She was the Salutatorian of the graduating Class of 1956 at J. R. E. Lee High school.  She loved school and all of her classmates.  They continued to meet, greet and gather long after high school.  She cared about her schoolmates and loved reaching out to them with a mother's heart .

Upon high school graduation, Dorothy matriculated to Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where she would graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Education.    Her first teaching job was in Moore Haven, Florida.  She spent a career that would span over more than thirty years in Columbia County.  She adored the Five Points Elementary School Community and she shared those memories throughout her lifetime.  Her students experienced a mother's heart through her words and deeds daily.

On June 29, 1968, Dorothy Jackson was united in holy matrimony to James Yulee.  For 42 years, this union was one of love, support, travel, adventure and family until his death on August 8, 2010.  Uncle James and Aunt Dot never had birth children but the love they shared with their nieces and nephews was heaven sent.  They made sure the children had everything and they supported everything they did as long as they lived.  James and Dot became one name when referencing them.  They were both dedicated to family, kind to neighbors and loved their community.

Family reunions, Saturday fish fry events, hosting Altee's family at her house and so many gatherings were the high light of her life and especially the times with Mama It (Ida Foster), Uncle Bud and E-Mama (SJ and Louise Parker) Aunt Carrie, Mama Coot and the Yulee family, all of the cousins and the Mt. Olive Church family.  Dot would laugh and pose for one picture after the other.  Her sense of humor radiated all over the place with a mother's heart .

In the last few years, Aunt Dot's health failed and she moved from her home in the country to live with the nieces, Sharon, Carlette, Amber, Raigan and Kiya.  They were her caregivers and she was their motivation.  Her absolute joy came from the babies running and playing throughout the house.  Her regular doctor visits became an adventure with Willie Claridy, III.  She lovingly called him  "My Boy".  Willie would drive her to the weekly doctor appointments followed by shopping and trying new meals, making the most of each day.  Many were recipients of her daily encouraging text and phone calls and she looked forward to hearing back from all.

On Sunday, April 3 rd , things were quite different in the household and Aunt Dot really wanted no bother.  Little did the family know, she was already making her way throughout the early morning hours.  On Monday, April 4 th , at approximately. 8:20 AM, she slept quietly away in her childhood home.

Sis. Yulee's husband, mother, father, aunts, uncles, siblings:  Earnestine, Adelle, Lewis, Leonard, Ralph and Lillian and many cousins preceded her in death.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving sisters: Arversia Campbell and Alma (Paul) McConnell; Sister-in-laws:  Francis Jackson and Doris (Eddie) Boston; Devoted nieces & nephews:  Halia Nash, Alvildia "Altee" (Reggie) Williams, Lawrence Campbell, Sharon Jackson, Terri (Maceo) Collier, Simone Brown, Carlette Jackson, Davin McConnell, Paula G.
