Evelyn Wright Hickey was born on July 9, 1937, in Belleville, FL to the late Emory Wright, Sr and Americus Wright. She graduated in 1956 from J.R.E Lee High School in Jasper, FL. Evelyn was employed by Farmhouse Restaurant in Lake Park, GA, retiring in 2011, after 26 years of service.

Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethel A.M.E church in Belleville where she remained until her passing.

On January 3, 2026, Evelyn transitioned from her life of labor to meet her Master. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Americus Wright, two brothers, Emory Wright Jr and Cleveland Wright, one sister, Juanita Wright Peterson, and a lifelong companion, Wren Lock.

She leaves to cherish her memories her four children who loved her dearly: three sons Gary Wright (Kelsha) of Jasper, FL, Allen Hickey of Belleville, FL, Michael Cole (Sheila) of Valdosta, GA and one daughter Buffy Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a loving sister-in- law Joyce Wright of St Petersburg, FL, and a host of friends, cousins, nephew, and nieces including a devoted niece, LaNita Peterson, Belleville, FL and a devoted caretaker and daughter-in-law Kelsha Wright. She loved you all.
