Specialist E4/SP-4 Gerald Wayne Allen , affectionately known as "Iron Head," was born on November 23, 1963, to the late Ms. Catherine P. Allen and Mr. Will Johnson. A beloved member of the Jasper, Florida community, Gerald lived a life marked by service, love, and dedication.

Gerald was educated in the Hamilton County School system, where he graduated as a proud member of the Hamilton County High School Class of 1981. His passion for sports earned him a basketball scholarship to Edward Waters College, where he began his collegiate journey. He later transitioned to Tallahassee Community College before making the life-changing decision to enlist in the United States Army.

Gerald's military career was distinguished by his dedication to protecting our nation. He served two tours of duty— ending his service during Desert Storm. His seven years of service culminated in an honorable discharge, and his legacy as a dedicated soldier and patriot remains etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Raised in a Christian home, Gerald accepted Christ at an early age. His faith was central to his life, and he faithfully served New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church throughout the years. Most recently, he was honored to serve as Church Protem, giving his all to his church family with the same passion and dedication he brought to all areas of his life. He came to connect spiritually with Isaiah 40:29-31

After living in various regions of the U.S., Gerald returned home to Jasper, where he made it his mission to serve his community with pride. He worked at Hamilton Correctional Institution and later Pather Success, but his true calling was realized in his 14 years of service as an Environmental Technician for the City of Jasper. Through this role, Gerald built deep relationships with many in the community, always offering his humor, support, and love to those around him.

Gerald is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ms. Catherine P. Allen, his father, Mr. Will Johnson, and his sister, Juanita Hale. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Kathryn Cohen Allen; his five children: Joshua Smith, Kasey Allen, Terry Oliver, Corey Oliver, and Giya Allen; and his grandchildren: Ajaxx Kotara, Joshua Smith Jr., Jacob Smith, Terry Oliver Jr., Taquez Oliver, Kobe Oliver, and Leo Williams. He is also survived by his siblings: Gloria Jean Paremore, John Hale, Carolyn Allen, Carlton Allen, Anthony Allen, and Reginald Allen, and Trina Johnson

Gerald was cherished by many, including his devoted friends Anthony Holden, Greg Taylor, and Robert Smith Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends. His memory will forever be a beacon of love, service, and dedication to those who were fortunate enough to know him.
