Gerald V. Brown was born on March 9, 1960, in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late Clarence and Susie Brown. He grew up attending New Bethel A.M.E. Church and graduated from Hamilton County High School Class of 1978. Gerald went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Lake City Community College. Gerald was employed by The Council of Aging assisting the elderly.

Gerald had a passion for music, cooking, drawing and people. His love for cooking led him to pursue a career as a Culinary Chef, where he shared joy and flavor with everyone around him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clarence and Susie Brown; his sister, Deloris Gray; and his dear friend and brother-in-law, Charles Phoenix Sr.

Gerald leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Clarence Brown Jr. (Dolmicia), Jimmy Brown, Mildred Brown- Phoenix, Cheryl Brown, Tangi White, Gwendolyn Neal, and Brenda Bristol. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews—Susan Brown, Jasmine Brown, Jamair Brown, Mia Jackson, Jarred Brown, Tyler Brown, and Timothy Brown —who were truly the apples of his eyes, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Gerald's memory will also be lovingly treasured by his best friends, Joann Jefferson-Powell , Joann Rivers and Mrs. Ada Dean Curry, his favorite beloved cousin Bernice Smith and deceased cousin Dot Weary..
His warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
