In the Beginning, Irene Bernice Gandy was born January 3, 1931, to the late Ausie Gandy and Leronia Silver Gandy in Jennings, Florida. Irene was the eldest of nine children.
Her Labor, Irene was employed with several companies. In 1963 she was employed with Jasper Laundry under the leadership of C.D. Barker. Later in life Irene worked at the café as a cook and there she fell in love with cooking. In 2005 an unexpected accident occurred. Irene retired at the age of 72. At her spare time, she would Iron from home for her neighbors and friends and even Mr. Barker. Irene spent countless hours in her kitchen cooking. When she lost feeling in her legs in 2013 Irene made ways to continue to cook. She had a hot plate and an iron and made things work. With the help of family, they would bake for her and bring it to her for her to put her special touch of frosting on it.
God's Plan, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, God in his infinite wisdom removed his angel and called Irene home. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Leon Gandy, Ponce Gandy, Catherine Gandy Nesmith, Corine Gandy, and Reatha
Gandy Reed. Daughter, Lindora Bailey-Hill. With Love, treasuring everlasting memories of Irene are her loving and devoted daughters, Doris Carter, and Barbara carter. Sons, Jerome Carter, Nathaniel Carter (Louvenia), and Dwight Carter. Two Brothers, Ozzie Gandy (Sarah), and
Melvin Gandy. One Sister, Dorothy Chambliss. Two Sister in Laws, Marie Gandy, and Barbara Jean Gandy. One granddaughter, Shawnetta (Tommy) Jackson. Two grandsons, Derrick Walker (Kamecia), Devon Walker (Lorri). Five Great-granddaughters, Shonteria Lee, Kentonya Lee, Rebecca Walker, Dri Walker, and Zuri Walker. Eight Great-grandsons, Javion Davis, Jimmy Davis III, TyQuan Ivey,
D'marion Tarver, Franklin Griffin, Devon Walker JR., Devon Walker III, and Dekhary Walker. Irene also Leaves nine great-great-grands. One God daughter, Lillie Mae Robinson. A loving and devoted family, Woodrow Sr., Annie Ruth, Sonya Jackson, and Rebecca Jackson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing friends
