Deacon Izell "Pete" McCloud , affectionately known as "My Daddy" heard the Master's voice, answered his call and transitioned into Eternal rest on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Haven Hospice, Lake City, Florida.
Pete was born on March 9, 1931 to the late John and Blanche Gandy McCloud in Hamilton County, Florida. He was the 4th of 8 children and was preceded in death by his brother, W.C. McCloud, and sisters Jennie V. Davis, Bernice Gunsby, Fannie Mae Hawkins, Frances Mobley, Mattie Ruth and Joyce McCloud.
In 1985, Pete married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Jackson, who also Preceded him in death.
Pete attended the public schools of Hamilton County, He worked in pulp wood with his father and brother, He worked at the Crate Mill, Florida Rock and Occidental Chemical Corp. He lived by this professional motto, "I always advanced because of my work ethic and dedication."
At an early age Pete accepted Christ to be his Lord and savior. He was baptized at Dry Branch Church under the leadership of Sump Bristol. He was a devoted member of Springhill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Billy Mitchell.
Not only did his family think highly of him, his community did as well. He was a member of the Jennings Volunteer Fire Department and was voted Man of the Year in Jennings, Florida. Pete was a man of few but wise words, but when he spoke, we all listened. His smile was infectious and will always be embedded in our hearts.
Pete leaves to cherish his memories and pay tribute to a Life Well Lived, his loving and devoted children: Joyce McCloud Wilson (Bernard), Izell J. McCloud, Sharon K McCLoud (faithful caregiver), Vernon McCloud Sr. (Sandra), Keith Smith (Elizabeth) and Victoria Aiken; Brother, Charles Walls (Gloria); Special Nieces: Barbara Ann Simms and Caretha Washington; Sister-in-Laws: Eloise McCLoud and Juanita Jackson; Special Friends: Lenova Stewart, David Lane, Mikey King and Cousin Odell Anderson; a host of loving Grandchildren; and sorrowing relatives and friends who will miss him dearly
