Juanita Jenette
Mackey - Broxey
Jan 15, 1933 — Jan 1, 2020
Live Oak
On January 15, 1933 the late Grover and Nancy Mackey was blessed with their eldest child, Juanita Jenette Mackey-Broxey. (Her brothers have proceeded her in death: Willie James Mackey and Lucius Mackey). Sister Broxey accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt Sinai MB Church and later moved her membership to New Bethlehem AME Church where she was a faithful choir member, missionary and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Heroine of Jericho Flora Court #37 for many years and reigned as Most Ancient Matron from 1999-2009.
Sister Broxey was educated in the Historic Pinemount School System and graduated from Douglas High in 1952. She went on to attend Bethune Cookman College from 1953-1957. Upon returning home she worked in the school system and hospital in Live Oak, FL. Later in life, she worked at Dowling Park Nursing and then Suwannee Health Care Center as a CNA.
Sister Broxey was very active in her church as well as her community. Often visiting the sick and shut-in, offering words of prayer and singing solos at various church events. Her living was not in vain and she will be greatly missed by many.
She leaves to carry her legacy of strength and strong will with whom she loved so dear: Sons: Bernard (Laura) Mackey, Leon Broxey; Daughter: Arverla Neal ( Leca Neal proceeded her in death); Grandchildren: Anita Jones, Travis (Katrina) Timmons, Nancy Mackey, Christian Mackey, and Samantha Calloway. Great-Grandchildren: Victoria Combs, Marquis Virgil and Cameron Virgil; Sisters: Marvella Thomas; Ever Jean Ivey. Very loving and special niece: Deborah Ford. Special Nephews: Roderick Ford, Plutina Ivey III, Benoit Hamilton and Derrick Mackey. One Aunt: Deloris Edwards.
Special Friends: Minnie Mae Jackson and Grace Jenkins
and many other sorrowing family and friends.
