Leontyne Williams Lumpkin was born on April 14, 1942, to the late Leonard, Sr. and Annie Dora Williams in Jasper, Florida.  She graduated from J.R.E. Lee High School and attended North Florida Junior College, Madison, Florida.

Leontyne worked many years at Hamilton County Elementary School as a Teacher's Aide and retired from Bureau of Prisons, Hamilton County as a Corrections Officer.

Leontyne was a very strong woman who loved gardening, Blues music, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She departed this life at the Bedrock Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Lake City Florida. In addition to her parents, Leontyne was preceded in death by a dear brother Leonard Willams, Jr., and best friend Wilma Jane Sowell Cook.

Leontyne leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Inza (Lee) Graves, Bowie, Maryland; Selena Cobbs, Jasper, Florida; and Valerie (Ellis) Stokes of Copperas Cove, Texas; a brother: LaRonne (Gloria) Williams, Jacksonville, Florida and a sister: Vivian Wright, Jasper, Florida; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a dear Aunt: Minnie Burton, White Springs, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
