Mattie Lucile Wright was born in Madison, Florida, on June 27, 1945, and passed away on October 15, 2022, at home with her family by her side.
Mattie was the daughter of Nancy Moore and T. J. Thomas, who preceded her in death; as well as her brother Tommy Thomas.
Mattie was raised by her grandmother, Elizabeth Haynes, in Cherry Lake, Florida after the passing of her mother at the young age of 10.
Mattie attended the Madison public schools and graduated from Suwanee River High School Class of 1964 and Suwannee River Junior College.
Mattie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and became an active member of Architillery Missionary Baptist Church, serving on various board and in various departments of the church. Mattie loved the Lord and made a personal decision to live her life serving Him here on earth. Mattie would tell anyone about the goodness of the Lord. Mattie had many sayings, but was known for saying, "Did you pray about it?" and "Lord let your will be done!"
Mattie was employed by Volt Information Services, Inc., was a CNA at Dulay nursing home, an employee of the Madison County School System in the cafeteria for over 20 years, as well as an employee for The University of Florida – 4H camp.
Mattie grew up on a farm and never forgot her roots. She loved farming, canning, cooking, and fishing. Mattie also loved to sing and loved increasing her knowledge in the Word of God.
Mattie was active in her community and definitely was a giver. All who encountered the presence of her was changed in one way or another.
Mattie gained her wings, her ticket into heaven was validated on October 15, 2022.
She leaves to mourn her passing a devoted husband of 53 years, who stayed by her side until the very end, Timothy Wright; two sons : Thaddeus Wright (Abigail) and Terrance Wright; two daughters : Debra Roberts (Wayman) and Shonda Graham (Andrew Jr.); two brothers : Willie Thomas and Brian Thomas; two sisters : Tangela Thomas and Ramona Jordan; seven grandchildren : JaKarti Brown (Kaesha), Nion Francis, Ah'Zeria Francis, Natalyia Wright, Nicholas Wright, Tarralyn Wright and Osei-Yahu Wright; three great-grandchildren : Cody Brown, Jakarti Brown Jr. and Cheyenne Brown; Mattie was a mother to so many who hold her memories dear to their hearts; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
