Mose Lumpkin was born June 27, 1938, to Waddy and Nora Mae Lumpkin both of whom preceded him in death.

Mose early education was interrupted so he could help his parents on the family farm while his father worked for Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Upon his father's retirement, Mose and his brother Melvin as teens started a business in Pulp Wood. Mose continued in this business for over 20 years. From there, he went to work with Oxy Chemical starting in the late 1960s, formally PCS Phosphate Company. He retired as an operator from Oxy Chemical with over 30 years of service.

Mose married Eloise Hayes and to this union was born eight children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children Anthony Lumpkin, Wayne Lumpkin, Rhonda Lumpkin; sister Angelina Wallace, brothers Edgar Lumpkin Sr, Darnell Lumpkin Sr, and two siblings deceased at birth.

Mose is survived by his wife Eloise Lumpkin: children Jerry (Lequitia) Lumpkin, Nora (Jerome) McGill, Dora Simmons, Thallas Lumpkin, Tarilyn (Bernard) Dukes, and Stephanie Lumpkin; a devoted friend Brenda Graham; three brothers Melvin (Nellie) Lumpkin, Woodrow Lumpkin, Robert (Juanita) Lumpkin; adopted sister Lashanda (Tonny) Davis; sister-in-law Rubye Lumpkin; special friends James Lee, Farrell and Marilyn Burnam; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
