THE LIFE & LEGACY OF

ULYSEES BROWN

APRIL 29, 1957 - SEPTEMBER 8, 2026

Ulysees Brown was born on April 29, 1957, in Jasper, Florida, to Mr. Julius C. Edith and the late Bessie Lee Brown Edith. He later made his home in Valdosta, Georgia. Un September o 2026, Ulysees peacefully departed this life at South Georgia Medical Center at the age of 69.

On July 1o, 2013, Ulysees was united in marriage to Laverne Gardner, with whom he shared his life and many cherished memories.

Ulysees later committed his life to Christ and became a member of Church Built on the Rock on March 13, 2024, under the leadership of Bishop Enoch R. Brown, Jr.

Ulysees was known as a hardworking man, especially when it came to his lawn care work. He enjoyed operating his zero-turn mower and could often be found cutting not only his own grass, but the lawns of many of his neighbors as well. Through his work and willingness to help others, he became well known and loved throughout his community.

In his leisure time, Ulysees was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed spending his Saturdays watching college football and also loved following NFL football and NBA basketball. Whether working outdoors or relaxing with a game, Ulysees enjoyed the simple things in life and the company of those around him.

lysees was preceded in death by his mother, bessie Lee brow Edith; two brothers, Jimmy and Charles; his grandparents Mattie Lee Brown and Jonas Brown, Sr., Calperta Proctor and Roosevelt Edith; and his stepson, Vincent "Sweetpea" Burns, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted wife, Laverne Gardner Brown; his father, Julius C. Edith; three sons, Shawn Edith, Rodney (Tiffany) McCoggle, and Kametrick Gardner; one stepdaughter, Adrienne Freeman (Robert); fourteen grandchildren; special granddaughter, Ka-Niyah Gardner; one brother, Otis Riley (Willie Dell); two sisters-in-law, Mamie Johnson and Diann William; two brothers-in-law, Julius Gardner and Arthur Gardner; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.
