RUTHINA

Mrs. Ruthina Gail Norris Davis was born on April 5, 1956, to the late John Norris Jr. and Lillie Mae Norris in Macon County, Alabama. On Sunday, August 9, 2026, God called His faithful servant home to receive her eternal rest.

Ruthina accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater White Church in Shorter, Alabama. Later, she moved her membership and became a beloved member of Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church (GBBC) in Atlanta, Georgia, where she served and worshiped for several decades with her family. She later moved her membership to Panther Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Matheres, Alabama, where she served until her final days. Ruthina continued to attend and support all three churches until God called her from labor to reward.

Ruthina married her high school sweetheart, Solomon Davis, on June 11, 1972. Their union was blessed with four children.

Solomon preceded her in death in December 1983; the love they shared continued through the family they built together.

Ruthina was a woman of many talents. She graduated from D.C. Wolfe High School in 1975 and later attended college for Social Work in Alabama. Ruthina also attended Atlanta Area Technical College, where she earned her AAS in Culinary Arts.

She was a licensed cosmetologist, worked in healthcare, and was a professional truck driver orner/operator. And if that wasn't enough, Ruthina traveled throughout the United States-because apparently sitting still was never really her thing! But Ruthina was so much more than her accomplishments. She was the heartbeat of her family.

She was a true matriarch who started the Lawrence Family Reunions and the Norris Family Reunions/Gatherings. If Ruthina said, "We're having a family gathering," you already knew to things: you would have a good meal and always plenty of laugh-ter! Ruthina had a heart of gold and was always willing to help someone in need. She was a second mother and grandmother to countless friends of her children and grandchildren. Many nieces and nephers proudly called her their FAVORITE Auntie-and for good reason. Ruthina loved hard, protected fiercely, and never hesitated to tell you exactly what she thought. She earned the beloved name "Grams" to so many throughout the Clayton County community and multiple states. To many, she wasn't simply a grandmother by blood; she was a grandmother by love. She welcomed people into her heart and made them feel like family. And let's be honest... Ruthina did NOT play about her family!

Ruthina was also a serious sports fan, Auburn University football was her FAVORITE college team. She loved softball, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, swimming, and playing cards. And if there was a good game on, you might want to think trice before interrupting her! She loved to travel with family and friends, explore ner places, fellowship, laugh, and enjoy the journey of life. She was dependable, loving, protective, funny, strong willed, and full of life. Her presence could fill a room, and her absence leaves a space that no one else can fill.

She was a straight shooter. You never had to wonder where you stood with Ruthina because, honey, she was going to tell you. You might not have asked for the truth, but Ruthina was going to make sure you received it-free of charge and with no return policy!

Though our hearts are broken, we can smile through the tears because we know Ruthina lived, loved, laughed, served, traveled, fussed when necessary, celebrated her family, and made memories that will last forever.

Ruthina leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her three beautiful daughters, Chelsea Davis, Rochita Redding, and Bonsha Grier (Anthony; and loving son, Solomon Davis (Monica). Eight grandchildren: Reginald, Kelsea, Solomon, Jovoreya, Sequoia, De'Shontez, Montez Jr., and Cortez; and one great-grandchild, Ashlee, Eight sisters: Elizabeth Dodoo, Doris Johnson (Floyd), Theresa Braxton, Jacqulina (Gerald Sr.), Jeanette Hunt (Robert), Sandra Johnson (Nash), Cynthia Norris, and Katrina Norris; brothers-in-law Atward O'Neal, John Davis, Levan Davis, and Willie Caldwell; sisters-in-law Martha Felton, Lillian Hill, Joanne McDowell, and Carlena Bolden; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and her beloved Clayton County Community, Senior Centers, and Sports family.

Ruthina was preceded in death by sisters Dorthy Flyod and Barbra Caldwell; brother Lenell Norris; sister-in-law Maggie Davis O'Neal; four brothers-in-law; and son-in-law Montez Redding.
