A TIME TO BE BORN …Pauline Rivers Blalock was born in Aucilla, Florida, the daughter of Milton Rivers and Pearl Youman Washington on February 12, 1943. She was the eldest of one brother and eight sisters. Paula was a tomboy who loved the outdoors, basketball and swimming. She was educated in the Madison County School System. Paula accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. in Greenville, Florida.

A TIME TO LOVE … Pauline met the love of her life while playing a basketball tournament in high school. Pauline's Greenville team shared a bus with the Jerkins High School's boys' basketball team. Both teams won. The winning teams were allowed to choose a coed seatmate on the ride back home. The Jerkins High's lanky center chose Greenville's best hook shot shooter. The center returned to Mississippi next year, graduated from high school and went to Paul Quinn College (Waco, TX). Pauline graduated from high school and went to the school on the highest of seven hills in Tallahassee – Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. An injury sidelined the lanky center and he transferred to Tallahassee. The lanky center and the best hook shot shooter were reunited. Charles married Pauline. Three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren came from this beautiful union. Affectionately known as Gram, she was her grandchildren's superhero.

A TIME TO WORK …Pauline began her career as a registered nurse in Duval County. She taught in the Hamilton County School District at J.R.E. Lee High School, Hamilton County High School and Hamilton Middle School. Pauline completed her professional career in Suwannee County School District as a 7 th grade science teacher at Suwannee Middle School. Pauline made several lasting relationships while at SMS. Tommy, Gary E., Lonnie, David and Alan were "My Boys". Stephanie, Canary and Angie were "My Girls.

A TIME TO SERVE …Pauline believed in serving others to the best of her abilities. She was a member of several community service-based organizations: Social Sewing Club, Suwannee Coalition, FAMU Alumni Association (National and Hamilton County Chapters). She was an active member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church. She was a Lay president, member of Choir #1, finance member, Day Care Board secretary and Trustee.
