The life of Rev. Rickey Lamar Curry, Sr. began January 8, 1961 in Hamilton County, FL. He was born to Sylvester Curry, Sr. and the late Blossie L. Curry. Rickey attended public schools in Hamilton County where he graduated in 1979. Rickey continued his education by attending Valencia College Of Orlando FL, North Florida Community College of Madison, FL, Covenant Bible College of Tallahassee, FL and Payne Theological Seminary of Wiberforce, OH.

Rev. Curry accepted his call to ministry in 2010. Rickey faithfully labored for Christ; serving as pastor of Fort Union A.M.E. Church in Live oak, FL, St. James A.M.E. Church in Lake Butler, FL and Mount Tabor A.M.E. Church of Lake City, FL until God called him home. Rickey established a prison ministry where he exhibited his passion for the Kingdom of God by preaching, teaching, and counseling those in need.

Rickey had a diverse professional career. He worked with the Hamilton County Correctional Center as a Correctional Officer and the Tallahassee Police department as an Officer. Rickey also worked as a Paraprofessional for Hamilton County School District, where he worked until his health began to fail. Afterwards, Rickey retired and dedicated his life solely to the ministry of God.

Rickey's most profound accomplishments include: receiving his Masters of Divinity (Cum Laude) from Payne Theological Seminary, being ordained as Itinerate Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and being a published author of the book, How To Stay Focused On A Christian Journey. Rickey's book explains how God's unconditional love counteracts self-imposed struggles.

On December 30, 2019 at 2:20PM at UF Health Shands in Gainesville, FL Rev. Rickey Curry Sr. peacefully exchanged this early life for his eternal life with the Lord.

Rickey was preceded in death by his mother: Blossie L. Curry; two daughters: Breanna Curry and Tamara Curry; and one sister: Shelia Curry-Brooks.

Rev. Rickey Curry Sr. leaves to cherish his memories a loving, devoted wife: Rev. Ava D. Curry  of Bellville, FL; a loving Father: Sylvester Curry Sr. of Bellville, FL; one son: Rickey L. Curry Jr. of Tampa, FL; four stepchildren: Latonya (Raleigh) Barfield of Lake Park, GA, Carolyn White of Tampa, FL, Barbara (Willie) Thomas of Valdosta, GA and Paul (Stacie) Davis of Dallas, GA; Eleven grandchildren: Jonquay Andrews, Jamarin Pierce, and Dakaden Allen, all of Jasper, FL; Briyan Washington, Niyae Washington, and Tristan Barfield of Lake Park, GA; Ziyah Tyson and Zendaya Betances of Tampa, FL; Brailey Huewitt, Macaiah Thomas, and Jael Thomas, all of Valdosta, GA; one sister: Vanessa Faye Curry of Bellville, FL; Two brothers: Sylvester (Gwendolyn) Curry, Jr. of Hinesville, GA; Steve (Marcella [deceased]) Curry of Bellville, FL; one aunt: Essie Riley of Valdosta, GA; one uncle: Tommie Herndon of Bellville, FL; Four brothers-in-law: earnest(Bunice) Crutcher of Camilla, GA; Mark (Juanita) Crutcher of Orlando, FL; Leonard (Katna) Davis of Tallahassee, FL; and Darron Davis of Madison, FL; one sister-in-law: Jaqueline (Tony) Washington of Greenville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends and a loving devoted church family, Mount Tabor AME Church, Lake City, FL.
