Robert Alexander James was born on January 31, 1972, in Hamilton County. He was also a graduate of Hamilton High School, the class of 1990. Robert was a well-respected member of his community. He was known for his dedication and commitment to serving his country, his church, and his fellow citizens. Robert was a proud member of the Army National Guard, where he served his country for 28 years with distinction. He was a Staff Sergeant, and his service to his country was recognized with an honorable discharge.
Robert was also a devoted member of his church, Jesus Christ Community Church in Mayo, Florida. He served as a Deacon, and his leadership and guidance was valued by all who knew him. Robert's faith was an essential part of his life, and he lived his life with integrity and compassion. In addition to his military service and his work in his church, Robert was also employed by the Department of Corrections up until 2004. Later, Robert attended nursing school, formally known as Suwannee Hamilton VO Tech. Upon completing nursing school, he began his career as a nurse at Lafayette Health Care. However, he longed to do more with his career and moved to Henry Jenkins Jr. State Home. In 2015, Robert transferred from a state facility to the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he discovered his passion for community nursing. In 2021, Robert unfortunately fell ill. However, he showed great resilience and continued to work even as his illness progressed into 2022. He was proud of his education and encouraged young people in his community to pursue their dreams.
Robert
passed away on April 29, 2024. Those who preceded him in death are: his PARENTS: Prince C. James and Aletha Albritton James. He leaves to cherish his memory: his WIFE, Edna Edwards James; 2 DAUGHTERS: Alexandria (Thomas) Lankford of Camden, Delaware and Jaylah James of Mayo, FL; 7 SIBLINGS: Alma Gadison of Chicago, IL; Prince James Jr. of Hampton, VA, Christopher James of Wildwood, FL; Daniel (Laila) James Sr. of Germany: Darrell (Louevnia) James Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; Lisa (Donnell) Kirklin of Marianna, FL; Priscilla James of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
