Parents: The late Fletcher Smith and Rosa Graham Smith
Education: She attended school at Marion Station, Florida
(Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church) at an early age, moved to Sanford, Florida and attended Crooms Academy High School in the 1940's. Later years a move to St. Petersburg, Florida took place. At Gibbs High School she received her High School Diploma in 1946. She met and married her husband, Charlie Byrd and were married for 51 beautiful years until he answered the
Heavenly Call in 2000.
Church Affiliation: She was a member of Bethel Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She organized the Bereavement
Ministry and served as the head of that ministry for six years. Her voice became a part of the sanctuary choir many years. She helped organize the
food pantry, was church Mother, Deaconess, and held various capacities in the church. Greater Popular Springs Missionary Baptist Church was her
current church home where she joined in 2010. She organized the Noon Day Hour of Prayer Service, which was held every Monday in Jasper, FL.
Survivors: She leave to cherish her memories: a very devoted and loving
Niece, Rose Mary (Reverend Ernest) Duden; a Devoted Nephew, Ward (Cherry) Daniels, of Jasper, FL; Nieces Ruby Robinson, Cassandra Smith, all
of Jasper, FL; Gloria Daniels of Lake City, FL; Valerie (Rev. Watson) Haynes; Linda (Henry) Robinson; Pamela (Carlton) Jones, all of St. Petersburg, FL; Nieces Madelyn King; Eva (Eddie) Jackson, Darlene and Sandra, all of Sanford, FL, and Lucretia Brown, Winter Haven, FL; Nephew, Charlie Turner & wife, Houston, TX; A Special Great Nephew Terry McGill, of Elba, AL cousins Margaret Anderson, Sandra McClendon of St. Petersburg, FL.
Reverend Ricky L. Houston and the Bethel Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church Family, Reverend J.T. Billy Simon of Jasper, Florida and The Greater Popular Springs Missionary Baptist Church Family; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
