Born October 12, 1958 to Willie and Ruthie Mae Gibson in Branford, Florida Willie Gibson, Jr., was known by his nickname "Craw." Willie was a diligent, hardworking man, who began working in the agriculture industry early in his life. He worked for the same family for 20 years moving throughout Florida following the rotation of the crops. It was during one of these rotations he met the love of his life, Julie Gibson, in Milton, Florida on a blind date.  After a brief courtship, he attempted to marry Julie in Branford, Florida however they were refused a license due to being an interracial couple. Not to be deterred, the couple overcame racial divides, married in Lake City area, and remained united 'til death did they part' after 32 years. Willie was known to be a good provider and friend. He especially enjoyed fishing.  At the age of 61 he accepted the Lord. He was Baptized on October 13, 2019 in the Olustee State Park Lake, Florida by Rev. Dr. Pamela Green, Pastor Trinity and New Hope UMC. In his final conversation with the Rev. Dr. Green he said "Be sure to tell them I thank them so much for everything they did for me and my wife. I sure do thank them."
